BSFA Lurecoursing?

Post  SnipperWhipper on Fri Aug 08, 2008 4:27 pm

I really miss the BSFA events up here in the north does anyone know if they can be persuaded to start touring again?

They were such laid back friendly meets and any dog could have a run. And they where never overly competetive and the fun runs they sometimes held at the end where good for the old 'uns to have a run and enjoy themselves in.

So yea, just wondering if anyone knew if they could be persuaded to start running again.

Well, the problem was (I think) that expenses were running high with the maintenance of the van etc. Plus Keith emigrating to Australia may not have helped. Coming from Wrexham, I think he liked to see them come north.
Like you, I miss the BSFA events.
I think the original plan may have been for them to be a "parent organisation" with other clubs running under their rules and regs (much like the WCRA) but it never took off. Anyone wishing to start up will recieve any help and advice they may need from the BSFA.
The point scoring and judging system they used was better IMO than the fixed number stakes that most people seem to be running these days. sunny

Thanks!

Didn't know Keith had emigrated to Oz, okay for some I suppose . Shocked

I agree about the running system with points and judges. These fixed stake events of 8 or 16 or 32 dogs isn't really enough imo but who am I to say (well maybe 32 is but the rest or to small). Also I think it was pretty fair.

I'd be intrested in seeing someone set up a club up here in the North and they'd get my full support as long as it was fair and no one took it to seriously, I mean for me it's just a past time and a bit of fun, I don't want anything competetive.

I enjoy seeing a dog run, and seeing dogs race but the world won't stop if it doesn't win. So I prefer events that are more fun based and relaxed.
